  • Mixing bowl

  • Loaf pan

  • Measuring cups and spoons

  • Wooden spoon or spatula

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium)

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9x5 inch (23x13 cm) loaf pan.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla extract.
Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined, then stir in the chopped nuts.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make sure the bananas are very ripe for the best flavor and texture. You can use either pecans or walnuts in this recipe, or omit the nuts entirely if you prefer. The sour cream in the recipe adds moisture and a tangy flavor to the bread.
